About Us
Students for Nuclear Disarmament (SND) is a national, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness among Gen-Z about the threat that nuclear weapons pose to humanity, focused on uniting young people in urging the U.S. government to pursue a common-sense nuclear weapons policy.
An official affiliate of the U.S.-based Back from the Brink Campaign and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, SND currently has a presence in over 15 academic institutions across the country, including high schools, colleges, and universities. We have been published in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, covered in The Progressive magazine, on local radio stations, in local and school newspapers, and across social media.
On the national level, SND hosts events featuring expert guest speakers, including educational virtual forums on topics such as deterrence theory. We’re highly active on social media platforms like Instagram, where we raise awareness about nuclear issues through a weekly series called Nuclear News and keep our followers up-to-date on SND activity.
SND also represents students at key actions, conferences, and meetings across the country, such as the Third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Local chapters are some of the most active parts of Students for Nuclear Disarmament, constantly organizing events that raise awareness about the threat of nuclear weapons and provide students with opportunities to take action. These local initiatives include participating in rallies, gathering petition signatures, and passing local legislation, and organizing in-school activities such as collaborating with other clubs.
SND is committed to sustainability within the youth advocacy community. We provide chapter leaders with one-on-one coaching, training, and ongoing support, and we are currently developing a comprehensive advocacy guide for students.
Our Chapters
Back from the Brink
We're proud partners of the Back from the Brink Campaign, a U.S.-based grassroots coalition of individuals, organizations, and elected officials working together on a multi-year campaign to rid the world of nuclear weapons and secure a set of common sense U.S. nuclear weapons policies that will make the world safer, healthier, and more just. SND chapters collaborate with Back from the Brink Hubs across the country in educating young people about the threat that nuclear weapons pose to humanity and advocating for the U.S. government to pursue those policies.
Our Partnerships
ICAN
Students for Nuclear Disarmament is also an official partner of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). ICAN is organization responsible for the historic Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. We work together to raise awareness about the growing threat of nuclear war among young people everywhere.
