Who We Are

Students for Nuclear Disarmament (SND) is a non-partisan coalition of high school, college, and graduate students from across the globe dedicated to ridding the world of nuclear weapons. We are liberals, we are conservatives, and we are everyone in between. We are a motivated group of young, vastly different people united by a common goal: the preservation of the human race.

Our generation needs to wake up. No, we young people have not lived through the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Cuban Missile Crisis, or the Cold War. Yet, we should not need to experience another nuclear disaster, or even come close to one, to educate ourselves and each other about the threat that these weapons pose to humanity, and to do everything we can to make meaningful change.

What We Do

SND reaches as wide an audience as possible with the tools of the digital age. With social media platforms like Instagram, we post engaging infographics, videos, and other educational content targeting "Gen-Z".  This website will be a more robust source of information about nuclear weapons, with resources about the history of arms control, current international efforts towards nuclear nonproliferation, and much more.

SND also facilitates community-based advocacy across the world. The steering committee is comprised of student leaders and advised by a group of industry-leading experts on activism and nuclear weapons and disarmament. The steering committee supervises SND chapters at the local, school, and state/province levels that organize peaceful demonstrations, engage in digital advocacy, and urge lawmakers to make nuclear disarmament a top policy priority.
